Personality: Abi is generally a happy and upbeat person. Understatement. She generally is painfully optimistic. Sure - she's prone to waking up on the wrong side of the bed - but that's normally quite rare. However, when concentrating, she normally appears less perky. Her normally upbeat words tend to be mumbled and often in different languages. Overall, she tends to confuse people after a short introduction.
Abi tends to be a bit opinionated, but tries not to force her thoughts on people if they resist too hard. She's not a fan of conflict. Abi's even a bit shy at first - which is almost amusing considering her very outgoing demeanor, once she knows you. In fact, once she feels comfortable around you...she's kind of hard to quiet down. Abi tends to be a bit of a chatter box when worked up.

::History::
Abigail was born in Johannesburg within South Africa, to a Doctor, Nurse, and an already present two-year-old brother. Todd - her father - was a second generation Doctor in South Africa. Both generations of Elys trained in England, before returning to their home to treat the local people for the various diseases that were prominent in the area. The Ely's originally ended up in South Africa with that very dream, while living in Austria. Abi's mother, Emma, was originally born in Italy before moving to England, then eventually America - in which she earned licensing to become a Nurse. The two met at a medical convention in Ohio, in which Todd had only gone to for a vacation, and Emma simply went to because she lived three miles from the event. The two spent the entire event together. After a year of regular trips between Ohio and South Africa, the two finally married - moving to South Africa, thanks to Todd's amazing ability to persuade anyone into anything. The two set up a local clinic that also would drive out into the more rural areas of South Africa for medical help. Within their first year of marriage, Eddy was born - followed by Abi two years later, and Kimberlee two years after that.
Life in Johannesburg was...warm. Though Todd and Emma attempted to give their kids a slightly sheltered life from the random revolts that seemed to happen every day, but of course failed. Eddy, Kimberlee, and Abi were still warped by this occurrence. The family of five lived a comfortable life throughout their lives, with each child taking different interests in various things. Abi was quick to lock onto languages. Her mother spoke fluent Italian, French, and English; Father - German, English, and probably a few others - plus the local languages of Zulu, Afrikaans, Ndebele, Xhosa, Sepedi, Southern Soto, Tswana, Swati, Venda, Tsonga, Fanagalo, Tsotsitaal, Khoe, Lobedu, Nothern Ndebele, Phuthi, and Sign Language...well, they were all similar, but still with enough difference so that someone got pissed if you misspoke.
Once Abi began attending what was the equivalent of high school, she began latching onto boys as friends, rather than girls. Her father found this oddly amusing, constantly teasing Abi that she was scared of girls. She wasn't, of course, she simply found guys more entertaining to be around. It wasn't like she didn't have any female friends...she simply had a greater quantity of male ones. A great friend of hers was a guy named Cameron Lutz. It's his fault she's as annoying as she currently is. Cameron went to Hawaii Junior year over the summer, and brought Abi back a ukulele. From that point on, Abi brought it everywhere with her - and began randomly breaking out into song...especially her signature 'SCREAMO UKULELE.' Forever in her school there will be a picture of her down on her knees, hair flying everywhere, mouth wide open, with a ukulele cradled in her arms, in crystal-clear-black-and-white, within the photography room.
Once graduated from high school, Abi attended University of the Withingyersrand, (Johannesburg) with a concentration in Linguistics, and a minor in Psychology - since people quite simply fascinated her, and she wished to understand how they worked better. Even with this minor and major, Abi remained addicted to puzzles. Decoding things, figuring stuff out. Harder versions of the game Clue, basically.
To assist with her tuition, Abi got a job - with Cameron - as a local DJ. Of course, her ukulele was present, and often heard across the AM channel. One night, however, Abi was at the station after hours, doing her English homework there, rather than actually going back to her place to do the work. The previous day, Cameron and his friend Uley, mounted a giant dish on the roof of the station. Why? Well...they found it in an old dump on the South Side, and decided that the Station could somehow get some use out of it.
Not wanting to screw with their signal, the trio had left it unattached until during the show, which had happened an hour before Abi had taken a seat on the couch and began pouring over her homework. During the show, they made the joke of broadcasting the sound machine over all of Africa, and proceeded to hook it up. Now, as Abi chewed on her pencil, that very 'joke', changed her life forever.
The 'moo' sound effect caused Abi to drop her pencil. She was already wearing a tin-foil hat, thanks to more jokes on the show, making the expression upon her face quite priceless. Wandering over to the sound-effect maker, Abi leaned her head to the side, taking a seat next to the device. It began repeating the same sound effects over and over again. Duck. Duck. Moo...
In realization it was assisted from the power of the epic dish, Abi tried disconnecting and reconnecting to the sound-effects machine. It continued. Seeing a puzzle form before her, Abi changed the connection to a TV, just because. Symbols appeared, causing Abi to lean her head to the side again - her foil hat falling to the ground. For the next seven hours, Abi went around connecting it to various things, until she finally figured out what it was saying.
Wee
Well...that was interesting. The next night she stayed once again, and got another word.
Come
Well...better than nothing. The next night yielded another word.
In.
Next night: Pieces.
Wee come in pieces.
Real funny.
A week later, Abi graduated from her University, and was approached by some guy in shades. He had a job offer for her. Two days later, she found herself in Colorado Springs, figuring out strange languages and codes that all seemed intertwined with various other things that made it even harder. After several years of working at the SGC, they decided to ship her off to finally get to go play with the aliens that she had spent so much time deciphering the messages of.

Back in Johannesburg...
Abi made a face, quickly flipping through the pages of the book that was neatly cradled between her hands. Eyebrows attempting to touch, her lips pulled back, revealing teeth - until she finally threw the horrible book to the ground. Shaking her head, the DJ turned back to her mic, glancing across at her best friend, Cameron, with a disgusted look on her face.
"So...the book that actually let the world know we existed," she began, crossing her arms and leaning them upon the table, "But why would anyone want to come here after reading this?" she pawed at the cover, helplessly, "Cry, the Beloved Country, - bah...I'm crying all right. Storyline - spoiler alert! - old man's family lives in Johannesburg. No one ever comes back from there. So he goes there, and discovers that his family is frakked up. Son kills white pro-equality guy, goes to jail, and gets the death sentence - but not before marrying the girl he knocked up, and causing his father - the main character of this 'piece of work' - and the father of the dead kid, to become friends. Son dies. The end. Woo..." Abi stuck her tongue out, "Most pointless book ever," she sighed, spinning around in her chair, as Cameron poked the book with his foot.
"The writer is going to sue us for saying that," he realized, straightening himself within his chair.
"I think..." Abi paused, before grabbing the book off the floor, "Paton is dead. Plus it's not illegal to state a review. We're unbiased here," she smiled reaching under the desk for her trusty ukulele, causing Cameron to burst out laughing.
"When in doubt - ukulele!" he smiled, shaking his head, as Abi played around with the chords.
"Hey, it's your fault I'm playing a Hawaiian instrument in Africa," she shot back, as she slowly spun in her chair, strumming her gift from many years ago.
"Touché."
Getting up from the desk, she smiled, "Now let's actually listen to some music - talk to you all in ten."
With a flip of a switch, all listeners were switched to the first song in a playlist that her and Cameron had made up last night. Which song it actually was, she had no idea. They were both drunk at the time. Maybe that's why so many people listened to their station. It was all alcohol induced goodness.
"I'll be back in eleven," she smiled to her co-host, purposely missing the mark by a minute, just to annoy him. As he shook his head, Abi exited the building - still cradling her ukulele - and walked out into the streets, where some kids played with an old ball.
"Hey lady - wanna join in?" one asked, leaning his head to the side with massive eyes that Abi simply couldn't say no to.
"Of course - and I'll even add some background music," she smiled, bursting out into song as she kicked the ball back and forth with the kids that ranged in age from four to about twelve. After too-short of a time, however, Cameron appeared, leaning upon the building Abi had just exited.
"What now?" she whined, as all the kids went 'awww' around her in disappointment. They already knew she had to abandon their game very, very, soon.
"Come on Abi...." Cameron motioned back inside, as Abi folded her arms, with one hand grasping the ukulele's neck.
"Just throw on another playlist..." she complained, as Cameron approached and heaved her over his shoulder a little too easily. Knowing it was futile to fight, Abi waved to the kids and went limp. Well - she wasn't going to make it too easy for him. After all - she might be small, but dead weight was an amazing thing. Think heavy and you were. In all honesty, Abi had no idea how and why that worked, but in times like the present - she learned not to fight it. Just go limp.
Hearing Cameron groan under Abi's sudden increase of weight, the girl giggled.
"Awww...is widdle Awbi getting too heavy for bwig stwong Camerwon?" she asked, putting on a baby voice which added the 'w' sound to most words. At least she wasn't mocking him in a language he didn't know. Which she often did. More often than not, really.
Being dropped back into her seat, Abi held her instrument like a bat, before glancing down at the countdown timer just in front of her.
3...2...1...
"And we're back...now that Cameron is done fooling around, maybe we can actually get down to some business around here..."
