Personality:
Davidson’s overwhelming characteristic is his want to try new things, be it ideas, concepts, equipment, strategies, even if they are untried and unproven. If he can’t find something new he’ll come up with something new and then try that.
He recognizes he doesn’t exist in a vacuum and that most tasks are successfully completed with more than one person working on it, so the wellbeing of people assigned to particular task matter to him.
Both of these traits tend to be magnified when entering a combat situation, a case of shoot first and ask questions later, more so since his incarceration by the Niddhogg. Unfortunately he does have a tendency to mentally go over a situation a little too much after the fact, especially when it hasn’t gone to plan, which distracts him from dealing with the consequences of the situation. That then leads to him getting caught out, which leads to rushed decisions, and if the not the right one he’s back to over analysing, a vicious circle that usually takes a teammate or superior to break.

::History::
Simon was born and grew up in Bolton, England, his parents ran a local newsagent (newspapers, cigarettes, confectionary) there, during the eighties in Britain times were tough, Simon had to earn any pocket money with a paper round. But it didn’t matter these were not the main focus while he was growing up Rugby, Comic’s, making dens, practical jokes, and general larking around with the local lads, were the main memories he chooses to hold onto.
He wanted to be a pilot, but to enter navel collage he needed a higher academic score, I order to attain this he enrolled in the local collage taking a two year A-Level Mathematics along with a two year Uniformed Services NVQ, gaining a pass in both areas of study he subsequently joined the Navy.
Following his four and a half years training, he was commissioned a sub-lieutenant in 2001. His first deployment was Saif Sareea II A large British exercise, which took place in the Persian of the coast of Oman Gulf in the autumn of 2001. World events around that time necessitated a slight change of plan, the exercise was abandoned and the ship of the exercise switched to intelligence gathering, the 801NAS aboard the Illustrious was flying the Harrier GR7, capable of aerial photography and surveillance. They flew a number of sorties over Afghanistan in preparation for the forth coming military action. Davidson was assigned as wingman for most of these, allowing the other pilot to focus on surveillance while Davison kept an eye out for any Anti-Aircraft Attacks. During his fifth sortie an AAA came in, Davison moved his plane across the other and into to the path of the oncoming fire allowing the other pilot to brake away. Taking a few hits and engine damage, Davidson attempted to limp home to Illustrious, unfortunately his engine failed just as he came over the gulf and he had to perform the first ejection from a plane of his career after wrestling the controls to turn his plane out to sea, where it could be and was salvaged by the Royal Navy. Following this he under took his first aerial photography and surveillance sortie, taking his turn in rotation after that until Illustrious was relieved by HMS Ocean in early 2002.
Simon spent the next four months training with 801NAS for redeployment to the Persian Gulf and there role in Operation TELIC in 2003. Over the next two years Simon served with distinction in 4 tours of 4 months each comprising mainly of ground attack and CAS sorties. Frequently being scrambled at the request of RAF combat air controllers attached to the front line units. The circumstances of each sortie influenced how the support was delivered. One instance an army squad was pined down at a junction of a heavily built up area, a missile or cannon strike was out of the question. So the pair of Harriers which Davidson flew in swooped low over the area, if the undercarriage had been lowered it would have skimmed the roof tops. It was enough to distract and disorientate the attackers and allow the coalition troops to move in.
After the conclusion of his 4th tour in early 2005 he was approached by members of the UK and US military for his participation of a top secret project. He accepted and was given transfer papers to Peterson AFB and along with five other pilots from both the Royal Air Force and Navy went through familiarization and training with the F-302 training squadron. The purpose being that they would eventually for the core around which the UK’s 302 program would be built. As part of this they were assigned in pairs to a battle cruiser for a tour, Davidson was posted to the Daedalus during its regular trip to Pegasus Galaxy to resupply Atlantis and keep an eye on their foes. During the trip back the Daedalus stopped off in quiet corner of Pegasus for a training sortie for the assigned squadron. The sortie was interrupted by the arrival of an overly inquisitive wraith cruiser. Though ordered back to the ship, there were two fighters further out than the rest of the squadron and Davidson was unwilling to leave them behind. With permission from Daedalus CO, Davison led his pair back, although without active weapons, and covered the pair, who in turn covered them, until they retuned as flight to the ship and they jumped out of the area.
Once training was completed Davidson along with the other five pilots and six planes purchased from the US were ordered to RAF Digby, designated as the base for the UK’s 302 program, officially it serves as the tri-services intelligence base with only grass runways. Ideal for a secret program. Over the next eighteen months the fledgling squadron doubled in size, with six planes built by BAE systems, and an additional six pilots selected and recruited this time from all branches of the armed forces.
In March 2007 Davidson received a new assignment, a spot in the fighter squadron that formed part of the Ida Task Force. He spent the next six months flying regular sorties against the terrifying new enemy that had emerged, the Niddhogg, as well as regularly rotating through the pilot seat of the battlecrusier. He was occupying the bridge pilot seat during the mission to Utario, the planed ambush went south very quickly, and along with a number of the crew Davidson abandoned the ship for the planet, attempting to make a stand there that ultimately proved futile. They were overpowered and captured by the Niddhogg sent after them.
The following months can only be described as a living hell. Naked, tortured and worked half to death for what felt like years, but was actually only a few months. During one work shift the unexpected disappearance of their taskmasters was all the invitation that was needed. They made a break for freedom a break that was helped by the timely arrival of a rescue team. Davidson eventually retuned to earth, by this time the physical scars were beginning to heal over. The mental ones, they would take time.
Four days after his return to earth Davidson was promoted to full lieutenant, and a few weeks later was awarded the George Cross for his conduct while in captivity. Though he eventually spent ten months on medical leave trying to work out the issues that plagued him for his time in captivity, a combination of psychiatrists and friends and most importantly family helped. Davidson knows deep down the experience has shaped his character, a feeling of paranoia when dealing with either a know enemy or the unknown, is one of the side effects of his experience.
Retuning to active duty is late 2008 Davidson found that the UK’s program had grown from a flight to a full wing, with two squadrons stationed at RAF Digby and the third on one of the SGC’s off world bases. Davidson was deliberately placed in the squadron retuning from an off world tour. So his superiors and the medical personnel could monitor his state of mind, to determine whether he would be able to continue in the program. Six months later, early 2009, these observations were concluded and Davison was cleared off all restrictions, continuing with the squadron during its off world tour at the Alpha Site. Later that same year he was named as flight leader, and second in command of the squadron. Twelve months later it was confirmed that as of 2011 there would be a UK operated 304. Davidson was one of three candidates for the squadron leader position and was chosen for the role based on his experience with the Ida Task Force, the other two named as flight leaders. Davison set to work on a training program, even obtaining permission have one of Digby’s hangers converted to a mock up of the battlecruisers F302 garage, to further prepare and acclimatize the pilots prior to there actual deployment on the leviathan during its shakedown in early 2011.
Immediately following the successful shakedown Davison was debriefed by the Commander of RAF Digby, with several questions focusing on how the squadron would run if Davidson was incapacitated. Following this he was informed of the intention to reactivate the Ida Task Force. This time based around the SC-306 vessels that were entering service. His participation was requested still with the posting of Squadron Commander, but based on the 306 rather than an escorting 304. For Davidson this was a crossroads, his last stint in the galaxy hadn’t ended well. But if let this opportunity go he’d kick himself for the rest of his career. So he accepted and began preparing to confront his demons.

Davidson sat to one side of the matted area clipboard resting on one knee, as he occasionally scribbled a few notes down. He was employing a technique he’d seen use by his first CAG on the illustrious, to assess the attributes of the people under his command before they even get into the air. A round-robin boxing bout, with three rounds for each pilot, eventually each pilot would face off against each other. This should benefit them as well, knowing how each would react in a fight, would enable them to work as a more cohesive unit and more effectively back each other up when things get really tough.
“Cooper bug out, Lee your up, scramble in.” Davidson directed as the former reached the three round limits. Glancing up at the pilot getting up to join the fray, trying to imprint who’s who in his mind, knowing full well that this could prove vital in the frantic fights the lay in the not to distant future. Re-focusing on the bout in front of him Davidson went back to taking notes; Lee being his main focus now.
Noting that Lee seemed taking the initiative and get stuck in to fights, a good thing if correctly channelled. Midway through the second bout he crowded and began pushing his opponent, Taylor, back towards the edge of the matted area. Attempting to restore order Davidson yelled “Alright lads, break it up, back off a moment!” When they continued and managed to force each other off the mat. Davidson got up and stomped over to them, with a mix of concern for there safety and annoyance that he was being blatantly ignored.
Grabing both by the shoulder he began to yank them apart half-pulling half-pushing them. Yelling at them both again as he did, “OI LADS, BREAK IT UP AND….” Davidson missed the flaying right from Taylor, that caught him full in the face, knocking him clean to the floor and cut him off mid sentence. Davison hit the floor hard enough to knock him out for a few moments.
On coming to he instinctively put his hand to his face, pulling it back again to find his palm covered in blood, which he also assumed was the stuff he could feel running across his face and coming from a now busted nose. “What part of break it up don’t you get. ” He grabbed an offered towel and he was hauled back to his feet by the two in question one of whom suggested that he get checked out as he’d been out cold. “I was trying to avoid one of us having to go to the infirmary, but I don’t have much choice now do I. Your all dismissed by the way go and read up on the chain of command, especially you two.” He retorted rather angrily, before stomping out of the gym towel pressed to his nose.
