Tags are those things that make things Bold, Italic, and Underlined, just to name a few.
This thread shows off the tags, how to use them, when to use them, and the actual code for them!
Bold
The bold tag makes things...well bold.
It's best to use when you want someone to see something or you just feel like being bold
Italic
The italic tag makes things lean to one side. A good place to use it, is when straining on a word:
I can't believe you did that!
[bold can also be used in this situation ;D]
Also, it can be used just to make things look pretty
Underline
This tag is good for making a point, like:
DO NOT DISRESPECT ANYONE
[psst, bold can be used with this one to really make a point]
Strike though
Great for crossing things off a list....and that's about it
Great for titles [even works on category titles ], siggy text, and much more!
There is a button in the top right hand corner called "quote" that quotes all the text in which that person wrote. But you can use it without that silly button
If you just want to quote something [like, not on this site or whatever] then just put the code up and enjoy!
Linked text
Great for any time you want to link text to words ;D
Images
This IS NOT A TEXT code...duh
It puts up the image on the url. One thing though, you can not have an 'indirect' link. Like there's a cool pic on that page...but it's not the actual URL to the image
Plus, you shouldn't 'hotlink' anyway [hotlink means put up a pic that isn't hosted by your account on a photo upload place ]
Images as links
Great for siggyz!
No UBBC
[noubbc]stuff here[/noubbc]
This can be used instead of the 'code' code.
Here's and example of this in work:
[b]see, it's not bold[/b]
amazing huh?
[code]codes here[/code]
Can be used instead of 'Non UBBC' code, [but i prefer this one ;D] I used the nonubbc code to show you that..because the 'code' code didn't want to show itself through itself...if that makes ANY sense.
It let's you show a code with out the code tags actually working [as you can see from everything on this page] Great for telling someone a code
Text sizes
You can keep going from 4 if you really want to
Good for big text ;D
Sup and Sub Text
Great for dates like the 4th and stuff.
Makes the text move to the left. Great for siggyz!
Different fonts
Replace 'font name' with the name of your favorite font!
[note: not all computers have the same fonts...so don't expect everyone to see the same thing as you 0_o]
Great for listing stuff.
replace the 'blah' with what you want...and put as many *'s as needed.
[glow=white,5,000]Glowing Text[/glow]
Replace 'color' with a basic color name, and replace the '#,###' with a four digit number. That number is the intensity of the glow.
Note: IE only [Internet explorer]
[shadow=red,left,300]Shadows[/shadow]
Replace 'color' with a basic color name, like 'white' or 'red', this will be the shadow's color. Replace direction with a basic direction: up, down, left, or right, this is the direction the shadow is compared to the text. Replace '###' with a 3 digit number, which is the intensity of the shadow.
Note: IE Only [Internet Explorer]
That code makes:
Replace where it says 'box #' with the desired content of each box.
To make a single celled table [like the word 'tables']
put
Play around with if you want a different number of boxes
LINE!
To signify a dense breaking of text - like a large time lapse or to cover a different point.
That's it. no end slashes...just and h and an r nested in []'s.
It basically neatens the edges and makes it all straight and pretty...good for forms.
Nesting tags
Before I put the code, I'd like to explain that you can have more than one tag per word or whatever, and that the tags I chose to use are just an example, feel free to mix and match
Did you catch the pattern there? [that really wasn't a 'code'...just more of an example ]
[nonubbc version now...]
Okay, so you have [i]text[/i] and you want to add more.
How about the bold code?
So you would put it so it hugs the other code. [b][i]text[/i][/b]
Basically it's one on top of the other, not to hard, huh?
That's all I can think of
I'll add more if I can find/think of anymore
Note: UBBC Code is what is used in posts, sigs, and custom titles on Proboards. In the actual coding portion of Proboard [i.e. headers/footers] using HTML code...which is a different monster all together and it's more complicated
Anyway, enjoy!
